Over the Easter holidays, three of our brass players (who play in Amersham Youth Band) took part in the National Youth Brass Band Championships in Birmingham. Alex E. (U6), Alexander B.-T. (4ths) and Patrick H. (4ths) took part in the event, which saw their band compete to win a bronze certificate. Alexander and Patrick, who both joined us this year, have made great contributions to the Music Department, not only in instrumental ensembles, but choirs too. Alex leaves us at the end of this term after many years of commitment to the musical life of the school.
All three boys play in our Concert Band at school, which has itself been distinguished at the regional round of the National Concert Band Festival in 2023, when it received a silver certificate. The Concert Band is currently preparing for its third annual ‘No Strings Attached’ concert, which this year will take place on Thursday 25th June at St John’s Church, Watford, as well as the twenty-ninth Summer Serenade on Monday 29th June.
