Writes Lauren Green, Deputy Lower Master
This past week, the Third Form team focussed on managing Teams, assignments and emails in the Third Form assembly.
Mr Simpson opened by presenting on Teams, covering its various uses as a channel for communication and as a hub for homework assignments. He explained how to organise the assignments hub, clarifying the categories of Forthcoming, Due and Past Due, and encouraged students to check their Teams assignments each evening to stay on top of their personalised workload.
After, we all shared a giggle over email etiquette, looking at some of the sillier emails Mr Simpson had received across the years, before reminding ourselves as to what a good email ought to look like. The students collectively agreed that remembering to greet their recipient and sign off at the end was essential!
Finally, Mr Simpson showed the Thirds the various ways they could access Teams and email from home, directing them to the Pupil Portal on the MTS website. The Pupil Portal is the centralised location for all student sites, including Teams, Outlook, AccessIt (and more!).
For security reasons, the school has Two Factor Authentication enabled on all Microsoft accounts. Authenticators can be used as an app on a smartphone, but importantly for those without a smartphone, can also be set up as a phone call to any valid phone number. You only need to authenticate when off-site.
Thank you to Mr Simpson for the assembly!
