Writes Adam Clarke, Senior Master
Adopting the theme of Trailblazing, two of our pupils, Pharon and Tobi, led three combined House Assemblies this week to pay tribute to a series of “firsts” from among British Afro-Caribbean sporting stars – all of whom overcame hatred and prejudice before securing their place in the nation’s sporting roll of honour.
We salute Pharon and Tobi for their courage and willingness to deliver assemblies that were not only thoroughly researched and engaging for the pupil body, but also a delightful trip down memory lane for staff.
Further events planned in celebration of this year’s Black History Month include a Careers talk from two OMTs, Marcus-Alexander Neil and Ryan Da Rocha, a West African drumming workshop for the Upper Third Form, and an African-themed lunch next Thursday.
The School also extends sincere thanks to Mr. Omoyeni for his tireless efforts in creating such a rich and meaningful programme of events to mark this important celebration of life at Sandy Lodge.
