Our U18 Basketball Team began the season with an away game against Watford Grammar School for Boys on 9th October 2025. Historically, WGBS has had the upper hand in this fixture, but the margin of defeat has narrowed year by year. This time, we travelled with confidence, determined to secure our first win against one of our long-standing rivals.
We had a slow start and were trailing by 16 points at half-time. However, the team responded brilliantly in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to just 2 points by the end of the period. Riding that momentum into the final quarter, we took the lead for the first time in the game.
With less than a minute remaining, we were ahead by 1 point. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hold on, as WGBS applied strong pressure in the closing moments. Despite our best efforts, we narrowly lost the game with a final score of 54–57.
Our captains, Ben P. (U6th) and Andrew E. (U6th), both contributed 12 points. Mateo R-A. (U6th) and Ammaar J. (Divs) hit crucial three-pointers during the comeback. Congratulations to Zakariya K. (U6th), Samuel W. (U6th), Aaron P. (L6th), Ammaar J. (Divs), and Ravi J. (Divs) on making their debut for the team.
