Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood, is celebrating another year of outstanding A-Level success, with 33% of all grades awarded at the highest A* grade – a testament to the hard work, talent and ambition of this year’s leavers.
Nearly half (48%) of the cohort achieved straight A* or A grades across all their subjects. Overall, 70% of grades achieved were A*-A, and just over 89% of grades were A*-B, underlining the strength and consistency of academic achievement across the year group.
Many students will now progress to some of the most competitive courses at leading global universities – from Engineering and Law to Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Nine pupils have secured places at Oxford or Cambridge, while a further nine will go on to study Medicine.

A number of departments delivered exceptional results. Maths continues to excel with almost 44% of grades at A* and 54% in Further Maths. Physics students also performed strongly, with 72.5% awarded an A* and 95% achieving A*-A. Meanwhile both Biology and Computer Science saw over 80% of grades at A*-A. In Art, 100% of students achieved an A* or A, with 75% gaining the top grade – reflecting the breadth of academic excellence.
Head Master Simon Everson said: “These exceptional results are the outcome of not just talent and hard work, but also the strength of the relationships forged here – between pupils and teachers, and across the School community. What matters most to us is not only the grades achieved, but the character, curiosity and integrity shown by these young men. They leave us not just with academic success but with the confidence and compassion to make their mark on the world.”
