Mental Health Week Meets National Walking Month

Lower School boys in the Upper Thirds and Fourths were encouraged to step away from their desks and spend time outdoors on Monday this week, as part of a timely initiative linking Mental Health Week with National Walking Month.

Having reflected in advance on the benefits of walking, talking and spending time in nature, the boys were invited to put those ideas into practice with a walk around the School grounds and lakes. The activity offered a simple but valuable reminder that looking after our wellbeing does not always require anything complicated: fresh air, gentle movement and good conversation can make a real difference.

Routes were provided by the Assistant Heads of Lower School, giving form teachers and their forms the chance to explore the School’s beautiful surroundings together. It was also a positive way to begin the week, helping boys to reset, connect with one another and enjoy a few moments of calm away from the busyness of the school day.

The initiative made excellent use of our wonderful campus and encouraged boys to see walking not only as exercise, but as a way of supporting both physical and mental health.

Well done to all the boys and staff who took part and embraced the opportunity to get out and about.
