Merchant Taylors’ School is delighted to announce the appointment of its Senior Monitor Team for the 2026–27 academic year.
Ravin A. has been appointed Head Monitor, supported by Sebastian S. and Albert V. as Second Monitors. Together, they will lead the Junior Common Room (JCR), representing the pupil body and supporting the life of the School throughout the year ahead.
The Junior Common Room is Merchant Taylors’ prefect body, bringing together a group of Sixth Form pupils who have demonstrated leadership, maturity and a commitment to serving the School community. As well as acting as role models for younger pupils, members of the JCR support a wide range of school events, including Open Mornings, admissions events, concerts, prizegiving ceremonies and other important occasions throughout the year.
The appointments follow a rigorous selection process involving written applications and interviews with senior staff. Candidates are considered not only for their academic achievement, but also for the character and commitment they have shown during their time at Merchant Taylors’. Ravin, Sebastian and Albert have already distinguished themselves through their contribution as members of the JCR and will now take on these important leadership roles.
Head Master Simon Everson said: “Leadership at Merchant Taylors’ is about service to others. Ravin, Sebastian and Albert have each demonstrated integrity, humility and a genuine commitment to the School community. I have every confidence that they will lead with distinction and be excellent role models for the boys who follow them.”
Head Monitor-elect Ravin A. said: “I’m honoured to have been entrusted with the role of Head Monitor and am really looking forward to working with the monitor team, the JCR and the staff next year. It’s going to be an exciting time, and we are all looking forward to helping bring the school together and to building on the great work done by Jai and all the leaving Upper Sixth. The team especially wants to focus on welcoming the incoming pupils and helping them make the most of their opportunities here at Taylors’.”
As one academic year draws to a close, we would also like to thank our outgoing Senior Monitor Team, Head Monitor Jai E. and Second Monitors Yuvraj B. and Brayden D., for the outstanding commitment and leadership they have shown throughout the past year. Their contribution to the life of the School has been significant, and we wish them every success as they begin the next chapter of their journeys beyond Merchant Taylors’.
Ravin, Sebastian and Albert will formally take up their appointments at the start of the Autumn Term. We congratulate them on their appointment and look forward to seeing them lead the School community over the coming year.
