Writes Pranay P. (L6th)
On Saturday 9th May, seven boys from the JCR represented Taylors’ at the annual Leadership Day, hosted by the Royal Masonic School for Girls, alongside the SLT from RMS and The Reach Free School.
The day was packed, with highlights including exploring the qualities of a great leader, a team orienteering challenge, saving a teacher from a snake bite (a problem-solving exercise, thankfully), and a session called “You Are the Algorithm”, which emphasised the Sixth Form’s ethos in the compound interest of small, consistent actions.
After lunch, school teams competed fiercely for the iconic Leadership Challenge Cup through blindfolded activities and teamwork games – including the memorable Herd the Sheep. The boys then pitched their ideas they wished to implement within the school to a panel of judges. All that remained was the wait for results – sandwiched, of course, between what felt like a record-breaking number of outfit changes from school uniform and PE kit.
At the formal dinner after, the boys were sharp in their black tie and the food did not disappoint. Ultimately, MTS just missed out on first place – many congratulations to The Reach Free School on a well deserved win.
Thanks to RMS for hosting, to Gp Capt Harry Kemsley OBE and his team, and to Ms Younge and Mr Herring for accompanying the boys on a brilliant day.
