It was Wednesday in The Hour when the Cubers gathered into the Geography Department for the Rubik’s Cube Participation Round.
Which house had the most people who could solve a cube under 5 minutes?
It was time to find out. Excitement buzzed the room as people started warming up their hands. Cubes clicked rapidly amidst the mutterings of pre-game strategy. One by one, Cubers stepped forward and started to solve their cubes against the clock.
Once everyone was finished, the scores were tallied, and Hilles had taken the lead.
Four days later, it was time for the Rubik’s Cube Relay, where three of the fastest Cubers from each house gathered to compete. Noise filled the air, but the atmosphere was tense.
Then, silence.
“Cubers you may now spectate your cubes”. Silent seconds passed. “Ready…. GO!!”
The first person in each house immediately grabbed their cubes and started to solve them. Each Cuber who completed their cube brought their house closer to victory. It was the only a matter of time until cries of “Done!” punctuated the room.
Manor House was first.
“Done!”
Hilles House secured second. One by one, the houses completed their relays.
The final score would depend on the combined scores from both days. Everyone held their breath, as the results were added up. The points ranged across multiple areas, such as participation and the relay.
“The Rubik’s Cube overall winner is… Hilles!!!”
After the results were announced, everybody shook hands and congratulated each other for doing their best. It was done. Hilles had won.
Many thanks to Mr Coles who hosted and organised this event and to everyone who came and supported the competition.
