Writes Tilly Scott, Development Manager
What is the opportunity?
This summer, the School will be running its biennial Telephone Campaign, bringing the Merchant Taylors’ community together to build awareness of, and raise funds for our Bursary Fund and other priorities which enhance the educational experience for pupils. We are recruiting 13 callers from the Upper Sixth and recent leavers from 2024 and 2025 to call OMTs, parents, parents of OMTs and friends of the School.
The Campaign Caller role
During the two-week campaign, callers will have the opportunity to speak to alumni from all over the world who have taken their Merchant Taylors’ education into a variety of careers and paths which may be very similar the one the boys in the Upper Sixth are about to embark on.
Calling sessions take place in the evenings and at weekends, and successful candidates will be working from their own homes, supervised and supported very closely online by Development Office staff and our firm of external consultants. Prior to calling, there are two full days of training, which mean that callers will be fully prepared and comfortable making calls.
Enhancing Employability
As well as an opportunity to earn money and make a real difference to the future of the School, this is work that will be highly valued on a CV in future, and will set successful candidates apart from those taking on many other part-time positions that might be available. The Development Office will be prepared to provide references for future job applications — and indeed have supported OMTs in successful job applications in this way in the past — not to mention the opportunity to build connections with many OMTs and parents over the telephone; something that in the past has led to future internships and even jobs for the callers.

They should have already received an email with details, so please do suggest they refer to that before applying. Applications can be made here.
