After months of rigorous fundraising and heightened anticipation, Phab Week 2025 arrived on the first Tuesday of these Easter holidays. It was a fantastic week for everyone involved, packed with a wide variety of activities and events.
Buzzing with excitement, the entire Phab cohort headed to bowling for our first activity. While our bowling skills weren’t particularly sharp, the mood was positive as everyone began to see the fun that would be had over the coming days.
The following day was a busy one with horse-riding and swimming, but the most popular event was the campfire and karaoke evening, which showed some truly angelic singing from all involved. Despite the sub-par singing and questionable dance moves from a few members of staff, our Phab group quickly formed a special bond, and a real sense of community emerged on what was only the second day.
After an energy draining first two days, it’s safe to say that the energy on Thursday morning was slightly lower than before. However, we were lucky enough to have the musical group and Britain’s Got Talent golden buzzer winners, ‘Electric Umbrella,’ to inject a whole new wave of life into Phab Week and show us what real singing looked like. As usual, this proved to be a crowd favourite. Dancing around the school in fancy dress while playing drums is just about as strange as it seems, but also intoxicatingly joyous.
That evening saw the RMS girls join us for what was a surprisingly intense Bingo night, which certainly brought out our competitive sides. Yet, fortunately, the Phab community spirit survived! With Friday being our last full day, everyone was determined to make it the best yet. Kicking off the day with an animal show, people were excited – that was, until the spiders were unveiled, forcing numerous members of the Phab team to the back rows. Luckily, we were outdone by the Phab guests, who could be seen holding a snake that looked around twice their body weight.
After a long wait, the time had come for what can only be described as the pinnacle of Phab: the Phab disco. Equipped with a variety of onesies, traditional Spanish attire, and glowsticks, the party was roaring in the drama studio that Friday evening. After some lethal dance moves and incredibly wholesome speeches, the party did have to come to an end. We finished the week with a brunch for parents and a prize-giving ceremony to award some of the week’s best moments.
I can say on behalf of everyone involved that this week was something special, filled with memories for a lifetime. Thank you to all who were involved.
