In the event of an Emergency or important notice, this page will be updated.

 
In general, Merchant Taylors’ will remain open during term time unless the School site is not safe or unless circumstances make it impossible for its staff to travel to School.

In the event of poor weather or other exceptional circumstances, parents are advised to use their good judgement as to whether to allow their son to travel to be taken into school. 

PROCEDURE FOR CLOSING THE SCHOOL OVERNIGHT OR BEFORE THE PUPILS ARRIVE AT THE SCHOOL

The Head Master will decide with the Bursar if the school needs to be closed.

The Head Master will communicate with parents, pupils and staff via the following: text message, email and the School’s web site Home Page.

Parents should check one or more of these means of communication if the situation seems to warrant it. The Bursar will inform the operators of the school coach service. Staff living on site and any staff able to get to school will be asked to look after any pupils who have come into school, and to cover the telephone system. Any pupils who arrive will be looked after until their parents can make arrangement to collect them.

PROCEDURE FOR CLOSING THE SCHOOL WHILST THE PUPILS ARE AT SCHOOL

The Head Master with the Bursar will decide on closure of the school. Pupils and Form Teachers will go to their form rooms for the closure briefing. Pupils will then either go home or to the Dining Hall.

The Bursar will liaise with the operators of the School Coaches. Teachers living on the school site will go to the Dining Hall and take responsibility for the pupils, they will keep a register of those present. The Bursar will arrange for the Catering Department to provide hot drinks and food as and when required.

The School will communicate to parents a summary of information as necessary.
