MTS Robotics is an extra-curricular club where the boys work in a team to design, build and code a competitive robot to solve a specific engineering game challenge. We participate in the Vex competition at both IQ and EDR level. Working together the boys learn how to tackle complex problems, negotiate, work to time and resource constraints as well as developing their ability to work in tense competitive situations, become resilient and learn to adapt to quickly changing situations. Above all though, the club is a fun environment where the boys share ideas, learn from each other and develop a love for design and engineering.

Through the course of the season the boys will participate in several regional competitions against schools locally and from across the country. Teams who qualify from a regional event are then invited to participate in the UK National Finals which take place in March each year. Winning teams from the National competition are then invited to represent the UK at the World Championships. We've enjoyed much success in recent years with our 2020 teams being crowned double UK Vex IQ champions and our 2021 team winning the Vex IQ Middle School Robot Skills World Championships. In 2022 four of our teams travelled to Dallas, Texas to compete in the World Championships where one team reached the divisional finals and another won the 'Build Award'.
