MTS Careers Week 2022

A week of themed careers insights from panels of OMTs and other guest speakers who will share their career experiences, offer advice and answer questions.

All events will run over MS Teams, 6pm-7pm and are open to all MTS pupils and parents.

You must register in advance to join the event Team.

 

 Monday 7th March: Careers in the Creative Industries

Hear about careers in the high-end fashion business from Jake Wiseman, OMT, currently working in Paris as a Design Director for Givenchy.

Insights into careers in marketing and advertising and how they can be used to change behaviour from Jamie Roston, OMT, who works for M&C Saatchi.

Hear how training in architecture and graphic design can lead to a role designing virtual reality systems to train surgeons to perform high stakes operations from Vanessa Martini, our guest speaker from FundamentalVR.

 

Tuesday 8th March: Careers in STEM

Creating public health campaigns and educating medical professionals is a fascinating way to use your science knowledge – hear from Neil Flash (OMT) how he has made this his career. 

Mike Sheppard (OMT) will share his wide knowledge about careers in engineering. A specialist in aerospace and aeronautics, he is currently working at MBDA.

Data Science is a rapidly growing career area and we are joined by guest speaker Hervé Schnegg who will share his extensive experience in this area and explain his current role at Station10.

 

Wednesday 9th March: Careers in Professional Services

Nick Finney (OMT) has had career roles to date encompassing engineering, business analyst and management consultant. He is currently a Supply Chain Project Manager for the World Food Programme in Rome.

Corporate lawyer, Chrishan Raja (OMT), has degrees from Oxford and Harvard Law School. He will share what is takes to work for a global law firm.

The Civil Service is the largest UK graduate employer. William Paul (OMT) will share his experiences working in DEFRA and HM Treasury, where he is currently Senior Policy Advisor and Head of Trade Negotiations.

 

Thursday 10th March: Careers in Banking & Finance

Aditya joined Deloitte as a graduate, moved to another company specialising in property investment and is now back at Deloitte as Assistant Director, Real Estate Debt & Capital Advisory.

Peel Hunt is a specialist UK investment bank where James Schofield (OMT) is Head of Business Management. As well as explaining his role, he will share his experiences of the broader financial services industry.

Green investments are becoming increasingly important. Hear more about this from James Smyth (OMT) who specialises in this area in his role as an analyst at M&G plc.
