VEX V5RC - Coventry Regional
Last Saturday we had two teams competing in Coventry for the VEX VRC regional at King Henry VIII school. This was one of the largest regional events in the UK, with thirty six teams attending. Two of our MTS teams attended, MTS_R3START and MTS_Bubblegum.
For MTS_R3START, a Lower Sixth team, there was an unfortunate start in the qualifying rounds, ranking us 26th out of 36th. However, we overcame this hardship with an incredible comeback for the tournament knockout, winning the competition and Tournament Champions. With this award, we qualified for the National VRC event for the third time in three consecutive competitions. As well as this, we won the Skills award for our solo driver and autonomous performance, and the Think award for outstanding programming.
Meanwhile, MTSBubblegum put in a valiant effort, placing 21st in the qualifiers and beating MTS_R3START earlier in the competition. They narrowly lost their semi-final match by 1 point, but displayed excellent gamesmanship throughout the day.
Thank you to the DT department for allowing us to attend, and Mr Tang for being there to support on the day.
