A Festive Finale to Book Boffz 2024
Christmas came early to Book Boffz, with a festive-themed session in late November. Attendees participated in various activities centred around Christmas and seasonal literature, starting with an interactive advent calendar featuring trivia questions about Christmas books and wintery facts.
Pupils shared which book characters they would love to invite to Christmas dinner (with Sherlock Holmes and Gandalf being popular choices) and pondered gifts for famous literary figures. Correct answers and imaginative ideas were rewarded with chocolate coins.
For the next activity, pupils had two options. Some chose to participate in a Mad Libs game, (a fill-in-the-blanks story activity) resulting in creative and amusing tales. Others went on a scavenger hunt for books with specific seasonal characteristics which led to some interesting discoveries.
To wrap up the session, Book Boffz had the opportunity to explore some of the newest additions to our junior library, hopefully encouraging them to embark on fresh literary adventures over the holiday season. While exploring new books they also enjoyed some holiday cheer with crisps, gingerbread men, and more chocolate coins.
Book Boffz will meet again in January.
