Clubs & Societies Highlight: Lego Club

Co-curricular activities welcome likeminded students and staff to nurture passions and indulge interests, forging friendships which span across classes and year groups. Our current provision is extensive, numbering at over one hundred and fifty options, with more growing each year. Each week, we seek to celebrate one of the many clubs and societies that form part of the rich fabric of Merchant Taylors’.

This week we look at Lego Club, a space for creativity and imagination.

Lego Club is a place which welcomes creativity. Every week, one of the organisers and founders of the club choose one theme. Club members then have to build something related to this topic. At the end, the builds are judged, and the winner is given one token towards a prize. We also sometimes host free building sessions, where members are encouraged to bring their best ideas and build it into bricks, with the only limit being their imagination (and the end of the Hour). With prizes on the line, members try their best in pairs or teams to create the most impressive possible build. Unique flair and showmanship is rewarded!

Last season, we held an overarching competition. People were allocated to groups who competed to gain as many points as possible through the course of the term. The winners were to receive a customised Lego figure, which had the clubs name on it; a tantalising prize! This Christmas, we also produced a collection of Lego builds to showcase to the club's benefactors.

The Lego Club Committee prides itself on being welcoming and friendly, as well as providing weekly challenges to the members of the club. Please do drop in and view our masterpieces!
