Celebrating 2025 Oxbridge Success at Taylors’

We are delighted to report that, over the past two weeks, 11 Upper Sixth pupils have secured offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. After fiendishly challenging admissions test and infamously rigorous interviews, they have been accepted to study a variety of courses spanning the sciences, humanities and languages.
Michael Herring, Head of Upper School, said, “We are immensely proud of the 11 pupils who have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge; they have all been academic leaders in their chosen fields for some time and this represents the cherry on their cakes. But, we are equally proud of those who were interviewed but not offered places and those who are currently hoovering up places from other eye-wateringly competitive institutions: they are all doing a fantastic job.”
Nicola Isham, Head of Oxbridge commented that “Our supercurricular extension programme is designed to stretch and challenge all our Sixth Form pupils. Guided by their teachers, they get to forge their own paths and engage in the seminar-style debate and discussion that prepares them for both interviews and academic life at highly selective institutions. We very much see this programme as enabling the pupils to do well on admissions tests and in interviews but, perhaps more importantly, to make significant contributions when they get to these places.”
Additionally, we celebrate all our Upper Sixth pupils who are starting to receive offers from a wide range of prestigious universities. This year 153 applicants submitted a grand total of 762 individual applications to over 50 different institutions! The offers coming in at the moment show the range of applicants’ interests and the quality of institutions making these offers is testament to the brilliance of our pupils. Even the notoriously slow medical schools have started to make offers, and we were delighted to see the first of these coming in this week (well done Saavan P. and Mustafa S!).
The university application process is undoubtedly stressful for all young people. However, everyone at Taylors’, from the teachers to the support staff is rallying around the Upper Sixth. We can’t wait to see where they will go once they leave Sandy Lodge and what they will achieve in the future.
