Phab Staff Vs. Student Hockey

Monday marked the much-anticipated annual Staff Vs. Students’ Phab Hockey Match. From Third Form to Upper Sixth, the student team was stacked with quality hockey players. The staff team also included many faces familiar to the hockey pitch, including Mr Haynes, Mr Middleton, and Mr Richardson, setting this up to be a hard fought contest. The game was kicked off by an exhilarating first half which ended 0-0. At half time, it was all to play for.

The second half did not disappoint. Mr Middleton scored a shuffle, leaving the game 1-0 to the staff, forcing the students to put in a serious effort to catch up. Not to be underestimated, the students achieved this, and once equalised again, the game was characterised by its  intensity of play from both sides.

At the end of play, the game ended as a 2-2 draw. This would not do - we needed a victor. To generate an outcome, the crowd was given what they had hoped for: shuffles! The students managed to maintain cool heads and sealed the deal, winning the shuffles with a final goal which snuck past Mr Richardson into the back of the net.

Overall, the game was once again a major success. The event is always special and enjoyed by all those who come to watch and who are lucky enough to play. It provides a wonderful opportunity for Phab to raise awareness within the school, with this year being no different.

Thank you to all of those who played and were involved within the game. I hope everyone looks forward to next year!
