U14 French Rugby Tour

A group of twenty-five Fourths pupils started their Easter holiday with the rugby tour to France. An early start at school preceded a flight to Bordeaux and then a coach journey to Soustons, just outside of Biarritz. We were back at Isle Verte, the location we have stayed at for the past two trips. The first afternoon was spent exploring the locale, after which we launched straight into a training session and touch tournament.
On the Friday we headed to Bayonne for a session with their academy coaches. We were very fortunate to see the Bayonne team heading into the stadium for their team run - our boys were especially excited to chat to former England international and British Lion, Manu Tuilagi! Having watched their session for a few minutes, we then began our own with the French coaches, focusing on ways to ensure the ball stays off the ground. That afternoon (back in Soustons) saw our boys try their hand at Pelota for the first time. The evening was spent playing a competitive tournament of kick tennis!
The Saturday then saw us travel to Ibos in the Pyrenees for our fixture. We did a joint warm up, before splitting into four teams for a 7-a-side round robin tournament. There was some superb rugby played, and everyone made a really positive contribution. Ibos hosted us superbly - it was a really good day.
Sunday was spent exploring Biarritz before having an excellent surfing lesson. This is usually the highlight of the trip and this year was no different - the boys loved it.
Our final session closed the tour, where the exceptional Fine Master Mr Bruce led the charge. The tour awards were also announced, going to Leo B (Magic Moment), Neel S (Joker) and Zaki R (Man of Tour).
The boys were superb throughout and represented the school brilliantly.
