Leadership Workshop

On Tuesday 5th March, thirteen boys had a leadership workshop with Martin Knights of MEK coaching.

The session was focused on preparing them to apply for 1st XV Captain and leadership roles within the rugby programme, though will hopefully have benefits far beyond the rugby pitch.

We were fortunate to have L Hinton and R Mangat start us off, reflecting on their experiences as Vice-Captains in 2023 and they raised some very poignant and worthwhile discussion topics. This highlighted the importance of individual conversations and balancing leadership responsibility with their own performance on the field as well as their academic and extra-curricular commitments.

The session was focused on the boys as individuals, identifying the aspects of leadership that they find to be more important and how they can bring their own personality and viewpoint to the role. Martin also led a discussion on what the boys will feel like if they are or are not given the captaincy, and how that emotion might impact their behaviours which follow. Our boys were as eloquent and open as ever, really adding value to the experience. I am hopeful they will have taken a lot from the evening.
