Field Day Fun at MTS

Field Day isn't just all about the CCF and Duke of Edinburgh. Across the year groups and subjects a wide varieties of activities take place. Here are a few of the exciting Field Day activities.

Preparatory Schools' Orchestral Afternoon

Last Friday (Field Day), around a hundred and thirty children from six nearby prep schools gathered to take part in the annual Preparatory Schools' Orchestral Afternoon. The weather, which was temptingly clement, greeted the children and staff as they approached the school.

There were then rehearsals in the afternoon, punctuated by a brief tea break. As the children assembled for the full orchestral rehearsal, the Great Hall was awash with an almost deafening sound of enthusiastic children, which was promptly focussed into the playing of Oom-pah-pah from Oliver under the direction of Mr Couldridge. After an early supper, the troops were reassembled in the Great Hall where they gave a 30-minute concert, exhibiting the fruits of their labours during the afternoon. The concert was met with warm applause.

 Field Day Spy Games

The Fourths enjoyed Spy Games as part of their Field day option, taking part in the Mortar Attack challenge as one of the activities of the morning. They were provided with all the pieces, but it was all flat packed and there were no instructions. They were tasked to build their mortar and see who could fire the furthest to gain the biggest reward in spy dollars! As I am sure you can imagine, teamwork and hijinks ensued in a memorable day.

Thanks to all involved and well done to the Fourths.
